Michail Antonio, the 34-year-old striker for West Ham United, has been discharged from the hospital after a serious car accident that left him hospitalized for 24 days. The incident occurred on December 7 near Theydon Bois in Essex, where Antonio's Ferrari veered off the road and collided with a tree. Emergency services worked for over 45 minutes to free him from the vehicle.

Following multiple surgeries, Antonio is now recovering at home and using crutches for mobility. In an emotional statement shared on Instagram, he reflected on the fragility of life, stating, "Every year around this time, I'm asked what I'm grateful for, and every year I've struggled to find the right words. But this year, I know exactly what I'm grateful for: being alive."

Antonio extended heartfelt thanks to the emergency services, NHS, air ambulance teams, medical staff at Royal London and Cromwell hospitals, and everyone at West Ham United, including the board, staff, teammates, and fans. He emphasized, "Honestly, I couldn't have gotten through this without you. From the bottom of my heart, thank you."

He also expressed deep appreciation for his loved ones and the entire football community for their unwavering support during this challenging time. Antonio concluded his message with optimism, wishing everyone a Happy New Year and expressing his eagerness to return to the pitch soon.

While his current contract with West Ham United is set to expire on June 30, it remains uncertain whether he will play for the club again. Nevertheless, Antonio's focus remains on his recovery and eventual return to football.
