West Ham's Lopetegui: 'We Have No Fear Facing Liverpool'
West Ham United's manager, Julen Lopetegui, asserts his team's confidence ahead of their Premier League clash with leaders Liverpool, despite facing injury and suspension challenges.
Julen Lopetegui, the manager of West Ham United, has expressed his team's readiness and confidence as they prepare to face Liverpool, the current Premier League leaders. Despite a series of injuries and suspensions affecting key players, Lopetegui maintains that his squad harbors no fear ahead of the upcoming match.
In a recent press conference, Lopetegui stated, "We have no fear facing Liverpool. We respect all teams equally, whether it's Southampton, Liverpool, or any other. We're discussing the top team in the Premier League, with outstanding players and a highly skilled coach. They're at their peak right now, but we must believe in our own strengths and capabilities."
West Ham approaches this fixture following a four-match unbeaten streak, including a 1-0 victory over Southampton. However, they will be without several key players due to injuries and suspensions, including goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski, defender Max Kilman, midfielder Carlos Soler, and midfielders Tomas Soucek and Guido Rodriguez, both sidelined due to yellow card accumulations.
Addressing these challenges, Lopetegui commented, "We are aware of the obstacles, but I have faith in my team. It's time to utilize the players we have available. Despite the difficulties, we must rest and prepare for the next challenge, believing in our strength and abilities."
