Heavy Fines Imposed on Concert Organizers at Santiago Bernabéu Stadium

The Madrid City Council has levied substantial fines totaling €801,000 against promoters of concerts held at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium due to violations of noise regulations. These penalties have led to the suspension of events until March 2025, prompting the stadium's management to implement corrective measures to minimize disturbances to local residents.

Heavy Fines Imposed on Concert Organizers at Santiago Bernabéu Stadium

The Madrid City Council has imposed eleven fines on promoters of concerts at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, amounting to a total of €801,000. These sanctions, ranging from €17,000 to €148,000, were issued for exceeding the noise limits established by the city's Protection against Acoustic and Thermal Pollution ordinance. During certain events, noise levels approached 90 decibels, significantly surpassing the permitted thresholds of 63 decibels during daytime and 53 decibels at night.

As a result of these infractions, all concerts at the Bernabéu have been suspended until March 2025. The stadium's management has been instructed to implement corrective measures to reduce disturbances to the surrounding community. These violations are classified as very serious under Article 59.3 of the aforementioned ordinance, which addresses exceeding permissible noise levels.

The recent €900 million renovation of the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium was intended to transform it into a premier entertainment hub, capable of hosting a variety of events beyond football matches. However, the excessive noise levels during concerts have led to significant fines and event suspensions, highlighting the challenges of balancing commercial activities with community well-being.
