Son Heung-min Sets Historic Assist Record at Tottenham
South Korean forward Son Heung-min has become Tottenham Hotspur's all-time assist leader in the Premier League, surpassing Darren Anderton's long-standing record.
Son Heung-min, the South Korean star of Tottenham Hotspur, has etched his name into the club's history books by becoming their all-time assist leader in the Premier League. In Tottenham's recent away match against Southampton, Son provided two assists, bringing his total to 68 and surpassing the previous record held by Darren Anderton.
Son's first assist came in the 25th minute, setting up Pape Matar Sarr for Tottenham's fourth goal, which tied Anderton's record. He then broke the record in stoppage time of the first half, delivering a precise pass to James Maddison, solidifying his status as the club's top assist provider.
Darren Anderton, who joined Tottenham in 1992, held the assist record for nearly three decades. Additionally, he was the club's appearance leader with 299 matches until Hugo Lloris surpassed that milestone in the 2021-2022 season. Son's achievement not only highlights his playmaking abilities but also underscores his significant contribution to Tottenham's attacking prowess since joining the club.
