Motta: 'We Must Earn Victories, Not Blame Bad Luck'
Juventus manager Thiago Motta emphasized the importance of merit over misfortune following the team's 2-2 draw against Fiorentina, stating that his players did not do enough to secure all three points.
In the aftermath of Juventus' 2-2 draw with Fiorentina in Serie A, manager Thiago Motta expressed his belief that the team must focus on earning victories through performance rather than attributing outcomes to luck. He stated, 'I don't believe in bad luck. If we had scored the third goal, the game wouldn't have slipped away from us. Therefore, I believe in merit. The result shows we weren't good enough to earn all three points.'
Motta addressed his decision to start Kenan Yıldız on the bench, highlighting the capabilities of Samuel Mbangula, who was given the nod: 'Yıldız is a good player, but Samuel Mbangula is also very capable and played well today. I'm satisfied with his performance.'
Regarding the defensive lapse that led to Fiorentina's equalizer, Motta commented, 'We need to review what happened. We must manage the game with balance. If we had scored the third goal, the mistake leading to Fiorentina's equalizer wouldn't have been as impactful.'
Looking ahead to the upcoming Supercoppa Italiana match against AC Milan, Motta outlined his objectives: 'We want to deliver our best performance, impose our game on the opponent, and secure the victory. It's going to be a tough match against Milan.' He also touched on Juventus' position in Serie A, stating, 'I look at the league table, but I can't change it. We'll focus on our future opponents and the tasks we need to accomplish on the pitch.'
When asked about Moise Kean's performance against Juventus, Motta remarked, 'He's been through a difficult period, and I'm happy for him that he's made a change. I have nothing more to add.'
