Sevilla Bans Former President Del Nido Amid Ongoing Feud
Sevilla FC has imposed a 20-match stadium ban on former president José María del Nido Benavente following altercations during the derby against Real Betis, intensifying the ongoing conflict between him and the current club management led by his son.
Sevilla FC has issued a 20-match ban preventing former president Jose Maria del Nido Benavente from attending matches at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuan Stadium. This decision follows incidents during the recent derby against Real Betis, where Del Nido engaged in inappropriate behavior and directed insults towards current club officials.
During the match, Del Nido was involved in verbal and physical confrontations with his son, José María del Nido Carrasco (the current president), and other board members. After reviewing reports of these incidents, the club's disciplinary committee implemented the ban.
Del Nido, who served as Sevilla's president from 2002 to 2013, has been attempting to regain control of the club, leading to ongoing disputes with the current management. In response to the ban, he stated, "I will go to the stadium; take pictures of me so people can see." He has also threatened legal action against the club's decision.
This development marks an escalation in the longstanding conflict between Del Nido and Sevilla FC's current leadership, highlighting deep divisions within the club's hierarchy.
