The list of players sidelined included crucial names such as Nico Schlotterbeck, Waldemar Anton, Emre Can, Alexander Meyer, and Filippo Mane. Their absence forced Sahin to make tactical adjustments that, while valiant, could not compensate for the loss of experience and depth on the field.
Looking ahead, Sahin remains optimistic. "We must learn from this experience and prepare for the next match against Holstein Kiel. I am confident that with the return of our key players, we can regain our rhythm and secure vital points," he added.
Despite the setback, Dortmund has shown resilience throughout the season. Sahin believes that the lessons learned from this defeat will serve to strengthen the squad as they aim to maintain their position in the upper echelons of the Bundesliga standings.
The coach also praised the players who stepped in during this challenging period. "They fought hard under difficult circumstances. The flu outbreak has been tough, but we have a strong squad mentality, and I believe in the group to bounce back," Sahin concluded.
