Thiago Motta Frustrated by Juventus' Draw Streak
Juventus coach Thiago Motta voiced frustration after a 1-1 draw against Torino, marking the team's 12th draw in 19 Serie A matches.
Juventus once again shared the spoils in Serie A, drawing 1-1 against Torino in a tightly contested Turin Derby. Despite extending their unbeaten run in the league, head coach Thiago Motta expressed his dissatisfaction with the team's inability to turn draws into victories, a recurring issue that has now seen Juventus record 12 draws in just 19 matches.
The match began positively for Juventus as young midfielder Kenan Yildiz opened the scoring with a well-taken strike in the 17th minute. However, Torino equalized before halftime through a brilliant effort from Nikola Vlasic. Juventus dominated possession but failed to capitalize on their opportunities in the second half, leaving the scoreline unchanged.
In his post-match interview, Motta did not hold back his frustrations: "This is a result that leaves us all disappointed. We started well, scored early, and had control of the game. But once again, we allowed the opposition back into it. We need to be more ruthless and maintain focus throughout the match." He added, "Twelve draws in a season are far too many. If we want to challenge for the top spots, we must turn these results into wins."
Juventus' struggles have been compounded by an injury crisis, with key players such as Dusan Vlahovic and Arkadiusz Milik sidelined. However, Motta praised the returning Douglas Luiz for his solid display, stating, "Douglas gave us great stability in midfield today. His presence is crucial as we look to improve." Left-back Andrea Cambiaso, despite playing through discomfort, also earned Motta's commendation.
The result leaves Juventus in fifth place in the Serie A standings with 33 points, 10 points adrift of the league leaders. With upcoming fixtures against top teams like Atalanta and AC Milan, Motta emphasized the importance of consistency and finishing matches strongly to climb the table.
"The players are giving everything, but we need to be smarter in how we approach the critical moments of games. We cannot afford to let opportunities slip by, especially when we have the lead," Motta concluded. The Juventus faithful will be hoping for a turnaround as the team looks to reignite their push for a top-four finish.
