Thiago Motta Focuses on Performance, Not Serie A Standings
Juventus coach Thiago Motta emphasizes focusing on match-by-match improvements after their hard-fought 2-1 win over Monza in Serie A.
Thiago Motta, head coach of Juventus, has reiterated that he is not concerned about the Serie A standings at this stage of the season. Following Juventus' 2-1 victory over Monza, Motta stated his intention to focus on improving performance on a match-by-match basis.
The match, held at the U-Power Stadium, marked Juventus’ first win in 43 days after four consecutive draws. Goals from Weston McKennie and Nico Gonzalez secured the crucial three points for the Bianconeri.
"The players, like McKennie and Gonzalez, have adapted to roles they aren't naturally accustomed to," said Motta. "It's rewarding to work with players who show such high levels of commitment and flexibility."
The game also showcased an experimental lineup featuring Teun Koopmeiners, Gonzalez, Kenan Yildiz, Francisco Conceicao, and Dusan Vlahovic. However, Koopmeiners was substituted at halftime due to a thigh muscle issue.
Motta praised the growth of his team, stating, "We’ve always faced challenges against defensively compact teams. This match was another step in our development as we learn to handle such situations better."
