Lautaro Martinez Focused on Growth Despite Criticism

Inter Milan captain Lautaro Martinez has reiterated his commitment to self-improvement and team success, choosing to focus on progress rather than external criticism. Speaking after Inter’s 3-1 victory over Empoli at San Siro, Martinez highlighted the team’s resilience and determination to maintain their competitive edge in Serie A.

Martinez, who opened the scoring in the 55th minute, reflected on the match, saying, "After last week’s draw, we felt some frustration, but we quickly turned our attention to the future. Empoli was well-organized defensively in the first half, but we remained patient, raised our intensity, and capitalized in the second half to secure the win."

With this performance, Martinez edged closer to matching the goal tally of former Inter star Mauro Icardi. When asked about the comparison, he responded, "For me, it’s not about comparisons. Since the start of my career, I’ve focused on improving every aspect of my game and helping my teammates do the same. Our goal is to ensure every player wearing this jersey is fully committed to the team’s success."

As Inter continues to battle Napoli for the Serie A title, Martinez remains optimistic. "The competition is fierce, but we’re determined to stay on track. With a game in hand and only a few points separating us, we’re confident in our ability to achieve great things this season."

When addressing personal criticism, the Argentine forward remained composed, saying, "I always give my best for Inter. My focus is on representing this club and its fans with pride and delivering consistent performances on the field."

Under the leadership of head coach Simone Inzaghi, Inter Milan aims to build on this victory and push for success both domestically and in European competitions, cementing their position among the elite of European football.
