Barcelona to Wear Iconic Blaugrana Kit Against Borussia Dortmund After Three-Year Hiatus

For the first time since November 2021, FC Barcelona will don their traditional blue and maroon home kit in a European away match, facing Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League. This marks the end of a 15-match streak where marketing decisions and color similarities led the team to opt for alternative kits.

Barcelona to Wear Iconic Blaugrana Kit Against Borussia Dortmund After Three-Year Hiatus

FC Barcelona is set to revive a significant tradition by wearing their iconic blaugrana home kit in an away European fixture against Borussia Dortmund this Wednesday. The last occasion the team sported this attire on foreign soil was on November 2, 2021, during a 1-0 victory over Dynamo Kyiv, secured by Ansu Fati's goal.

Over the past three years, a combination of marketing strategies and concerns over kit color clashes, extending even to sock hues, compelled Barcelona to choose alternative uniforms for away matches in European competitions. This practice resulted in a 15-game sequence without the traditional home colors.

The upcoming Champions League match at Signal Iduna Park will see Barcelona break this pattern, as UEFA has approved the team's request to wear their classic blue and maroon kit, complemented by dark blue shorts. Contrary to circulating rumors suggesting the use of white shorts, reminiscent of their attire against Las Palmas, the club has confirmed adherence to their traditional ensemble.

This decision not only reinstates a cherished custom but also aims to bolster team identity and morale as Barcelona continues its European campaign.
