Napoli President Called Clueless by Rudi Garcia
Rudi Garcia, former Napoli coach, sharply criticized president Aurelio De Laurentiis, accusing him of ignorance about football and disruptive interference.
Former Napoli manager Rudi Garcia, who took charge after the team’s title-winning season under Luciano Spalletti, has not held back in his assessment of club president Aurelio De Laurentiis. In a no-holds-barred interview, Garcia described De Laurentiis as clueless about football and overly meddlesome.
Garcia revealed, "From the outset, I requested reinforcements in defense and midfield, which were ignored. After my departure, players like Scott McTominay were brought in, proving my point. De Laurentiis may know cinema, but football is a different story."
Garcia also reacted strongly to De Laurentiis's remarks about firing him sooner, saying, "This reflects his own mistakes. His constant interference was intolerable. At 60, I won't allow someone with no understanding of football to dictate my decisions."
The French coach further criticized De Laurentiis’s obsession with the Champions League, claiming it distracted from maintaining team unity and progress in the domestic league.
