Donnarumma Escapes Serious Injury in Close Call
Luis Enrique shares relief after Gianluigi Donnarumma narrowly avoids losing his eyesight following a severe injury during training.
Gianluigi Donnarumma, the Italian goalkeeper for Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), narrowly avoided a serious injury that could have cost him his eyesight. Speaking ahead of PSG's French Cup clash against Lens, head coach Luis Enrique expressed his relief over Donnarumma’s fortunate escape.
"It was very hard to see Donnarumma in that condition," Enrique said during the pre-match press conference. "He is incredibly lucky that the blow didn’t affect his eyes, which could have caused a significant loss of vision. We all saw the images, and no further explanation is needed."
Enrique confirmed that Donnarumma is now feeling well and pain-free. "It was a serious injury, but he’s recovering. His well-being is our priority," the coach emphasized.
Looking ahead, Enrique commented on the team’s prospects for the season, highlighting a positive first half of the campaign. "We’ve had a very encouraging start and remain optimistic about what lies ahead," he said.
Enrique also addressed speculation about potential winter transfers, affirming his satisfaction with the current squad. "I’m very happy with the team we have. Instead of focusing on signings, we aim to give opportunities to young talents and strengthen internally," he added.
