Iago Aspas Extends Contract with Celta Vigo Until 2026

Iago Aspas, Celta Vigo's all-time top scorer and a symbol of the club, has extended his contract until 2026. The renewal was announced as a Christmas gift to the fans, confirming Aspas' commitment to the team.

The 37-year-old striker, whose contract was set to expire in June, remains a pivotal figure at Celta, both as captain and a key player. Aspas has played 509 matches for the club, closing in on Manolo Rodriguez's record of 533 appearances, which he is likely to surpass soon.

Aspas has been the leading Spanish scorer in La Liga for several seasons, ending the current year with six goals and a strong position in the race for the Zarra Trophy. If successful, he would become the first player in 40 years to win five Zarra titles, surpassing legends like Raul Gonzalez and David Villa.

In his statement, Aspas expressed his deep connection to Celta Vigo, saying, "This club is more than football to me; it’s my life and my home." The club also celebrated the announcement, describing it as an honor to retain one of Spain’s greatest football icons.
