Bayern Munich is negotiating to sign Kevin Mayer, a standout goalkeeper from Cruz Azul, as a potential replacement for Manuel Neuer.

Bayern Targets Colombian Goalkeeper as Neuer's Successor

Bayern Munich is reportedly in advanced talks to acquire Kevin Mayer, a Colombian goalkeeper currently playing for Cruz Azul in Mexico, during the January transfer window. Mayer has been impressive in the Mexican league, with 23 clean sheets in 48 matches in 2024.

The move comes as Bayern seeks a long-term replacement for Manuel Neuer, whose contract ends this season. Mayer's towering height of 1.9 meters, ability to play with his feet, and consistent performances make him an ideal candidate for the Bavarian club.

Mexican outlet El Universal confirmed the ongoing negotiations, revealing that Mayer's release clause is set between €15 and €20 million. Bayern has been informed that Cruz Azul will only release the player if this amount is paid in full.

This potential transfer aligns with Bayern's strategy to strengthen their squad, as Mayer could fill the significant void left by the departure of their iconic goalkeeper.
