Fatih Terim Takes the Helm at Al-Shabab: A New Era Begins
Renowned Turkish coach Fatih Terim has officially been appointed as the head coach of Saudi Arabia's Al-Shabab FC, marking a significant development in the club's pursuit of league success.
Fatih Terim, the esteemed Turkish football manager, has officially taken charge of Al-Shabab FC in Saudi Arabia. The club confirmed that Terim will lead the team until the end of the current season, succeeding Portuguese coach Vítor Pereira, who recently departed for Wolverhampton Wanderers in England.
According to Turkish media reports, Terim's contract is valued at $1.6 million for a six-month tenure, with an option to extend for an additional year. He will be accompanied by Turkish assistants Hamza Hamzaoğlu and Levent Şahin, bringing a wealth of experience to Al-Shabab's coaching staff.
In an interview with Turkey's 'RT Sports' network, Terim stated, "We do not intend to make significant changes to the team. Perhaps we will add one player during the winter transfer window, in addition to a goalkeeper who joined before my arrival."
He further emphasized the club's ambitions: "We have assessed the team's situation. Al-Shabab currently trails the top four teams by a narrow margin. Our goal is to clinch the league title."
Terim is expected to arrive in Riyadh shortly to commence his duties with Al-Shabab. Notably, in recent years, his name had been linked with coaching positions at prominent Iranian clubs, but financial considerations prevented such appointments.
