Laporta Condemns New RFEF President's Pro-Real Madrid Remarks
Barcelona President Joan Laporta has criticized recent statements by newly appointed RFEF President Rafael Louzán, who openly expressed his support for Real Madrid and admiration for Florentino Pérez. Laporta labeled these comments as inappropriate and offensive to clubs beyond Real Madrid.
In a recent interview with Telemadrid, Rafael Louzán, the newly elected President of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), openly declared his allegiance to Real Madrid and his admiration for its president, Florentino Pérez. These statements have sparked controversy, particularly among rival clubs.
Joan Laporta, President of FC Barcelona, responded by stating, 'These remarks are inappropriate, unacceptable, and part of what I refer to as collective Madridism. This comment is offensive not only to Barcelona but also to other clubs. Louzán revealed his support for Real Madrid rather quickly. I hope this was merely a slip of the tongue.'
Laporta further commented on the perceived bias within Spanish football institutions, saying, 'All the powers in Spain are pro-Real Madrid, and we intend to challenge them. We will not relent in our pursuits. We have been advised to collaborate with the league and the federation, and we aim to maintain good relations with all institutions, including the Spanish Federation, the Catalan Federation, UEFA, and FIFA. However, officials should exercise more discretion in their statements.'
