Barcelona Players Skip Training After Atlético Madrid Defeat
Following a 2-1 loss to Atlético Madrid, Barcelona's players were excused from training, reflecting low morale and the need for rest before upcoming fixtures.
After a 2-1 defeat to Atlético Madrid, which resulted in Barcelona losing their top spot in La Liga, the team convened at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper training ground. Initially, a light training session was scheduled; however, head coach Hansi Flick decided to cancel the session. Only players requiring medical attention received treatment, while the rest were given time off to recover mentally and physically.
During a brief meeting, Flick addressed the recent poor performances, noting that Barcelona had secured only 8 out of a possible 21 points in their latest matches. He encouraged the players to rest during the Christmas break and scheduled the next training session for Sunday, December 29. The team is set to prepare for their Copa del Rey match against Barbastro on January 4, followed by a trip to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, for the Spanish Super Cup semifinal against Athletic Bilbao on January 8.
