Barcelona Extends Stay at Olympic Stadium Until 2025
Barcelona announces an extended stay at the Olympic Stadium until April 2025 due to ongoing renovations at the Spotify Nou Camp.
FC Barcelona has confirmed an extended tenure at the Olympic Stadium, citing delays in the ongoing renovation of the Spotify Nou Camp. The club announced that the men's first team will remain at the Olympic Stadium for home matches until at least April 23, 2025, affecting all competitions, including La Liga, the Copa del Rey, and the UEFA Champions League.
This latest extension includes the La Liga match against Mallorca, set for matchday 33. In a previous announcement, Barcelona extended its initial stay at the stadium to cover fixtures in early 2024, including a crucial Champions League group stage game against Atalanta. The new plan ensures continuity for both players and fans as the club navigates logistical challenges.
From January 20, Barcelona members with existing subscriptions can activate their tickets for this extended period, granting access to all home matches through April 2025. Additionally, fans can purchase individual match tickets at discounted rates to attend games at the Olympic Stadium.
Barcelona has reiterated its commitment to maintaining open communication with fans regarding the status of the Nou Camp renovations. The club emphasized adherence to UEFA regulations, which require teams to play all knockout stage matches in the same stadium if they commence the competition there. This means that even if the Nou Camp becomes operational during the Champions League knockout stages, Barcelona will be obligated to remain at the Olympic Stadium for the duration of the tournament.
The ongoing renovation of the Spotify Nou Camp is a cornerstone project for the club's future, designed to transform the stadium into a modern sports and entertainment hub. However, the delays have underscored the complexities of undertaking such a large-scale redevelopment while ensuring minimal disruption to competitive schedules and fan experiences.
