Xavi Encourages Yamal After Golden Boy Award Win
Xavi Hernandez praised Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal after he won the Golden Boy award, urging him to stay focused and never give up.
Xavi Hernandez, former coach of Barcelona, sent a heartfelt message to Lamine Yamal after the young star received the prestigious Golden Boy award for the best under-21 footballer in Europe.
The award, organized by Italian outlet Tuttosport, recognized Yamal’s exceptional performances this season. Xavi, who handed Yamal his debut at just 15 years old, congratulated him through a video message recorded at Tuttosport's request.
In his message, Xavi said: “Lamine, I congratulate you with all my heart. You deserve this award more than anyone. I am so happy for you. Never give up, and I wish you the very best in your career.”
Unfortunately, Yamal could not attend the award ceremony due to an ankle ligament injury that will keep him sidelined for three to four weeks. Instead, the trophy was handed to him before Barcelona’s match against Leganes on Sunday.
At just 16 years old, Lamine Yamal has already become a key figure in Barcelona's squad, showcasing remarkable talent and maturity far beyond his years. Xavi’s encouragement highlights the trust and confidence placed in Yamal as one of the brightest prospects in European football.
