Lamine Yamal: It’s Time for Team Titles
Barcelona’s young winger Lamine Yamal celebrates being named in FIFA’s Team of the Year and emphasizes his focus on winning team titles over individual accolades.
Lamine Yamal, the 17-year-old rising star of Barcelona, has expressed his excitement after being named in FIFA’s Team of the Year. Yamal, who has already won prestigious individual awards like the Kopa Trophy and Golden Boy, is now setting his sights on collective achievements.
In a ceremony held in Doha, Qatar, Yamal shared his thoughts: “I want to thank FIFA for selecting me in the Team of the Year. I’m very happy and would like to thank my coaches and teammates for helping me reach this stage throughout the season. I also want to thank Xavi, my first coach, who helped me tremendously, along with Hansi Flick and Luis de la Fuente for contributing to my success.”
He continued, “While I’m thrilled about these individual awards, it’s now time to focus on team titles. Being part of the Team of the Year at just 17 is a great honor.”
Yamal played a critical role in Spain’s success at the European Championship and was instrumental in Barcelona’s progress over the past year. In the Team of the Year, he joins football icons such as Vinicius Junior, Jude Bellingham, Rodri, Erling Haaland, and Emiliano Martinez.
