Jude Bellingham Suffers Disappointing Night, Misses Two Awards
Real Madrid's Jude Bellingham missed out on two major awards on the same night, including BBC Sports Personality of the Year and FIFA Best Men's Player award.
It was a disappointing night for Jude Bellingham, the English midfielder of Real Madrid, as he missed out on two prestigious awards on the same evening.
Bellingham was among the six nominees for the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award. However, the honor went to Keely Hodgkinson, the Olympic gold medal-winning runner who also defended her European 800m title earlier in 2024. Bellingham, despite a brilliant year that saw him win the UEFA Champions League and La Liga titles with Real Madrid, and reach the Euro 2024 final with England, did not even finish in the top three. Luke Littler, the darts sensation, claimed second place, and cricket star Joe Root came third.
Adding to the disappointment, Bellingham also finished third in the voting for FIFA's Best Men's Player award. The prize was claimed by his teammate Vinicius Junior for his stellar performances throughout the year.
Bellingham's performances in 2024 were nothing short of exceptional, showcasing his talent as one of the world’s best young footballers. However, this particular night marked a rare setback for the 21-year-old, who remains a central figure for both Real Madrid and the English national team.
