Viktor Gyokeres: Matching Ronaldo's 69 Goals Record Is Possible

Viktor Gyokeres, the leading scorer of 2024 with an impressive tally of 61 goals, has expressed confidence in his ability to match Cristiano Ronaldo's 69 goals record set in 2013. Despite the seemingly impossible challenge of scoring 8 goals in his remaining 3 matches, Gyokeres believes anything is achievable in football.

The Swedish forward, who currently plays for Sporting CP, was recently named the Swedish Footballer of the Year. Gyokeres acknowledged the difficulty of this task but maintained an optimistic outlook:

"Yes, it is possible. There are still matches left, and I am focused on reaching this milestone. More importantly, my priority is to help my team win matches. If I achieve the record along the way, it will be fantastic."

While Gyokeres admitted that matching Lionel Messi's 91-goal record in 2012 is unrealistic, he remains driven to equal Ronaldo's and Robert Lewandowski's records. Lewandowski also scored 69 goals in 2021.

Gyokeres concluded, "As a striker, when you're in great form, you feel hungry for goals. I will do everything I can to help my team win and reach this incredible milestone."
