Van Nistelrooy: Manchester United Made a Huge Mistake
Ruud van Nistelrooy, current manager of Leicester City, criticizes Manchester United's decision to part ways with goalkeeping coach Yelle ten Rouwelaar, emphasizing his pivotal role in André Onana's development.
Ruud van Nistelrooy, now at the helm of Leicester City, has openly criticized Manchester United's decision to part ways with goalkeeping coach Yelle ten Rouwelaar. Van Nistelrooy believes that ten Rouwelaar played a crucial role in enhancing the performance of goalkeeper André Onana.
Ten Rouwelaar joined United's coaching staff in July as part of Erik ten Hag's team. However, following ten Hag's dismissal, ten Rouwelaar also departed from the club.
Reflecting on this decision, van Nistelrooy stated: "Our goalkeeper has had a generally good season, making numerous saves. We're striving to further improve his performance. He's an excellent goalkeeper and an outstanding footballer.
Ten Rouwelaar has significantly contributed to his development. This coach has worked with many young talents, helping them reach their peak performance. At United, he collaborated with Onana, and I believe he brought out the best in him. Losing such a coach is a significant mistake for them."
