Madrid's Mayor Opposes Hosting Barcelona at Metropolitano

Madrid's mayor, Jose Luis Martinez-Almeida, expressed his opposition to Barcelona using the Wanda Metropolitano stadium for Champions League games. Martinez-Almeida, a known Atletico Madrid supporter, suggested Barcelona turn to Espanyol's Cornella stadium instead.

Barcelona might need an alternative venue if renovation delays at Spotify Camp Nou and Montjuic persist. The mayor highlighted the lack of respect Barcelona has shown towards Espanyol, sarcastically encouraging them to use Cornella as a solution.

He clarified, however, that if the arrangement benefits Atletico financially, he would not object.
