LaLiga has issued a statement reaffirming its commitment to enforcing financial regulations equally among all clubs, following a court ruling that denied FC Barcelona's request to register Dani Olmo until June 30, 2025.

LaLiga Upholds Financial Fair Play Rules Amid Barcelona's Registration Appeal

LaLiga has reiterated its dedication to maintaining financial discipline across all participating clubs after the Court of First Instance No. 47 in Barcelona rejected FC Barcelona's appeal to provisionally register Dani Olmo until June 30, 2025.

In an official statement, LaLiga emphasized the authority of its Delegate Commission to approve budgetary regulations, a mandate clearly outlined in its statutes and general regulations. The league highlighted that, over the past 12 years of implementing the Norms for the Preparation of Budgets (NEP), no club, including Barcelona—who has previously participated in the Delegate Commission—has contested this authority.

LaLiga stated: 'The Delegate Commission of LaLiga has full authority to approve the budgetary regulations, as explicitly granted by the statutes and general regulations. In over 12 years of NEP implementation, no club has objected to this authority, including FC Barcelona, which has endorsed these regulations during its tenure in the Delegate Commission.'

The league further noted that Barcelona had submitted three appeals to register Olmo, all of which were denied, leading the club to seek judicial intervention. LaLiga underscored that the recent court decision aligns with its consistent application of Article 77 of the NEP, which permits player registration exceptions solely in cases of long-term injuries, aiming to preserve team competitiveness without circumventing established salary limits.

This development underscores LaLiga's commitment to enforcing financial fair play regulations uniformly, ensuring equitable competition among all member clubs.
