Barcelona Faces Dani Olmo Exit Amid Registration Woes

Barcelona's financial struggles have led to failed attempts at registering Dani Olmo, putting the club at risk of losing the €60 million midfielder to free agency.

Barcelona Faces Dani Olmo Exit Amid Registration Woes

Barcelona is on the verge of losing midfielder Dani Olmo due to ongoing financial constraints that have hindered his official registration with La Liga. Despite signing Olmo from RB Leipzig for €60 million last summer, the club's inability to comply with La Liga's salary cap regulations has prevented his registration.

Recent court appeals by Barcelona to secure Olmo's registration have been unsuccessful, with the latest rejection highlighting the club's deteriorating financial situation. The court noted that Barcelona's salary cap has worsened by €72 million since the previous summer, now standing at a negative €153 million.

With Olmo's temporary registration set to expire on December 31, he could become a free agent, attracting interest from top European clubs, including Manchester City, Manchester United, Arsenal, and Bayern Munich.

In a bid to resolve the situation, Barcelona President Joan Laporta is negotiating the sale of VIP boxes at the future Spotify Camp Nou to Middle Eastern investors, aiming to generate €100 million. This revenue would help adjust the club's salary cap, potentially allowing for Olmo's registration.

The club remains hopeful that this financial maneuver will succeed before the year-end deadline, preventing Olmo's departure and avoiding further reputational damage. However, time is running out, and failure to register Olmo could lead to significant economic and sporting repercussions for Barcelona.
