Portugal has officially launched a limited edition gold coin honoring football legend Cristiano Ronaldo, with only 25,000 pieces available.
In a special tribute to Cristiano Ronaldo, Portugal has introduced a limited edition gold coin bearing the 'CR7' insignia. This exclusive release comprises just 25,000 coins, each with a face value of 7 euros, symbolizing Ronaldo's iconic jersey number.
Currently, these coins are available exclusively through the Bank of Portugal. While the initial sale price is approximately 1,250 euros, experts anticipate a significant increase in value due to their limited availability and the global fame of Ronaldo. Dan Barnett, a coin specialist from Pacific Precious Metals, suggests that the coin's value could soar to 144,000 euros.
Portugal has previously honored notable figures with commemorative coins. For instance, Hollywood legend Grace Kelly was memorialized with a special 2-euro coin on the 25th anniversary of her passing, with initial editions now valued up to 5,000 euros.
Ronaldo, revered as a national hero in Portugal, boasts an impressive record with 130 goals in 215 international appearances. His achievements include leading Portugal to victory in the 2016 UEFA European Championship and the 2019 UEFA Nations League. Born in Madeira, his legacy is further cemented with a dedicated museum in his hometown.
