Barcelona Faces Delays in Nou Camp Reconstruction

Barcelona is facing significant challenges with the reconstruction of the Nou Camp, highlighting issues with the Turkish contractor selected for the project. The decision to award the contract to Limak, a non-industry leader, was driven by cost considerations, but the results have been underwhelming.

The board initially promised partial stadium completion by January 2025, enabling games with a capacity of 60,000 spectators. However, delays in construction and UEFA requirements for consistent venues in the Champions League have cast doubt on this timeline.

As of now, the team is expected to remain away from the Nou Camp until the next season. Barcelona must inform UEFA of their stadium choice for the second phase of the Champions League by February 21, leaving little hope for Nou Camp readiness by then.

When asked about the completion date, President Joan Laporta avoided specifics, acknowledging the complications. "We’ll return when the conditions are suitable," he stated, leaving the timeline uncertain.
