Friedkin Group Acquires Everton, Ending Moshiri's Era

Everton Football Club has officially come under new ownership as the Friedkin Group finalized its purchase of a 94.1% stake. This acquisition marks the end of Farhad Moshiri's tenure and begins a new era for the club. The deal, valued at over £400 million, makes Everton the tenth Premier League club to be owned by American investors.

The Friedkin Group, led by Dan Friedkin, also owns AS Roma in Italy's Serie A. The new owners have committed to honoring Everton's legacy while focusing on the club’s financial stability and long-term success. They aim to significantly reduce Everton's debt, including paying off £200 million owed to an American firm and refinancing £150 million with better terms.

This takeover ends an eight-year period of significant but turbulent investment under Farhad Moshiri. During his tenure, Moshiri spent approximately £750 million on the club, but the team faced financial instability, frequent managerial changes, and relegation battles.

The new owners have pledged to complete Everton's new 52,888-seater stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock. Scheduled to open for the 2025-26 season, this stadium symbolizes a fresh start under the Friedkin Group's leadership. Supporters hope this change will bring stability, competitive performances, and a brighter future for the club.
