The World's Best Defender Suffers Injury
Manchester City's Ruben Dias has been sidelined for a month following an injury sustained during the derby loss to Manchester United, dealing a blow to Pep Guardiola's squad.
Ruben Dias, considered one of the world’s best defenders, has been ruled out for a month due to a serious injury sustained during Manchester City’s recent derby defeat against Manchester United.
The Portuguese defender, who has been pivotal to Pep Guardiola’s plans, suffered the injury in the 75th minute of the match but insisted on continuing to play. Initially thought to be minor, subsequent medical evaluations revealed the severity of the issue.
Guardiola expressed his concerns in a press conference, stating, “Dias is one of our most reliable players. Losing him is a significant setback, especially during this crucial phase of the season.”
Dias, who has appeared in 19 matches across all competitions this season, has been a key figure in City’s defense. He previously missed five games in November due to a calf issue.
Adding to City’s woes, goalkeeper Ederson is also doubtful for the upcoming clash against Aston Villa, with Stefan Ortega expected to step in.
