Barcelona's Unprecedented Home Losing Streak After 60 Years
Barcelona has suffered three consecutive home defeats for the first time since 1965, marking a significant downturn in their season.
Barcelona is experiencing a challenging period, having lost three consecutive home matches for the first time in nearly six decades. This sequence of defeats has not occurred since 1965, highlighting the severity of the current situation.
The recent losses at Montjuïc Stadium have been against Real Sociedad, Las Palmas, and Atletico Madrid, resulting in a significant drop in the league standings. Over the past seven matches, Barcelona has secured only one victory, alongside two draws and four defeats, accumulating just 5 out of a possible 21 points.
Head coach Hansi Flick addressed this downturn, stating, "We need to play smarter and learn from what has happened. Losing nine points at home is unusual, and we must work on this." He emphasized the importance of focusing on upcoming home games to reverse this negative trend.
This period marks one of Barcelona's poorest first halves of a season in the past two decades, with only the tenure under Ronald Koeman showing a worse record in terms of defeats. The team aims to regroup and improve performance as they prepare to face Valencia at home in late January.
