Rodri Named Guardian's Best Footballer of 2024
Rodri has been crowned the best footballer of 2024 by The Guardian, surpassing Vinicius Junior and Erling Haaland in a close competition.
Rodri, the winner of the Ballon d'Or, has once again been recognized as the world's best footballer for 2024, according to The Guardian. In its annual ranking of the top 100 footballers, Rodri edged out Vinicius Junior and Erling Haaland to secure the top spot.
The Guardian revealed that its jury of 197 football experts evaluated over 300 players worldwide before narrowing it down to the top 100. Rodri amassed a total of 7,495 points, narrowly beating Vinicius, who scored 7,427 points. Notably, 92 of the jurors listed Rodri as their number one choice, compared to 72 for Vinicius Junior.
In the broader list, Lionel Messi was ranked 27th, while Cristiano Ronaldo appeared at 42nd. Meanwhile, Son Heung-min secured the 60th spot, being the only Asian player on the list and recognized as the continent's best footballer of the year.
This recognition marks another milestone in Rodri's illustrious career, solidifying his position as a pivotal figure in world football.
