Philippe Coutinho: 'I Never Regretted Joining Barcelona'
Philippe Coutinho reflects on his 2018 transfer from Liverpool to Barcelona, expressing no regrets despite challenges faced during his tenure with the Catalan club.
Philippe Coutinho, the Brazilian midfielder currently playing for Vasco da Gama, recently discussed his 2018 move from Liverpool to Barcelona. Despite the difficulties encountered during his time at the Catalan club, Coutinho maintains he has no regrets about the transfer.
In an interview, Coutinho stated, 'Things at Barcelona didn't go as I had hoped, nor as others expected. I'm the first to seek improvement on the field and always tell myself I need to get better. I gave my all and acted professionally, so I have no regrets about joining Barcelona.'
He also recalled advice from former Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp, who said, 'Klopp told me to stay here to become a bigger player, but if you want to go to teams like Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, or Barcelona, you'll be just another player because there are so many stars at these clubs.'
Coutinho transferred to Barcelona in January 2018, later spending loan periods at Bayern Munich and Aston Villa. During his stint with Barcelona, he made 76 appearances and scored 17 goals.
